Hello,
Just thought I would write a quick note. We are visiting Jenn. We took Brody to Apple Hill to see the pumpkins and tractors and animals. He really enjoyed it. And Jenn and I enjoyed it too. We had pie and cider but didn't bring a pie home this time, we should have, but we aren't going back, it is too far.
We have been going through pictures on the computer and putting some of Jenn's pictures on mine and some of mine on hers, so you know what that means, I have more pics of Brody to scrapbook. I am really going to have to lock myself in my room to get some done. I still need to scrap our trips too. And of course there are the other million pictures to sort and scrap.
Craft fairs coming up in November and I will be doing one each weekend so I hope I can sell some stuff - that would be great. I am hoping to have some new stuff finished too.
I will be keeping pretty busy the next few weeks but I will try to keep updated.

What comes next?

Hey! I am still here, though I haven't been "here" for a while.
The wedding preparations kept me really busy, and there wasn't much to update except to say "I'm still working on everything". But now the big day is past and it has been a month already. I think I am finally getting over the disappointments, you know, you have it all pictured how it will be and then it turns out differently. Of course for most of it no one notices but yourself because you knew what you expected but no one else knew any different. There were a few small things that I didn't get finished, mostly because I didn't do them sooner, but also because I was still struggling with what was going wrong with Heathers dress. I was having trouble getting it to fit right and couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. So finally I did what I had been hoping I wouldn't have to do and took it apart. Then I was able to figure out what I was doing wrong and fixed it. But then it was three days before the wedding and I still had a few things that I had left to the end. So I was busy til the last moment working on her dress and didn't get those few small things done, and I was so hoping I would have some relaxing time before the big moment. And as if that wasn't enough frustration, when I went to do the cake it became a disaster and I couldn't fix it in time. So we ended up with cake from the store and no tiered wedding cake. I was devistated because I could not move back time to start it again and couldn't fix it. Of course the store cake tasted great, it just didn't look the same.
However on a positive note, Heather was beautiful, they were happy and it was a special time. And that is what is most important.

We have lots of pictures to sort through and will soon be getting prints and cd's made so everyone can have some. I am attaching a few for you to see.

The day after the wedding we went to the coast and spent the night at a friends house (she rents it out). Jenn, Brett and Brody, my Mom and James and Kim and I went. We had a good time, we went down to the beach once but it was so windy and cold that we couldn't stay for very long. Then later in the week we went to Paulina Lake and stayed at a cabin for two days. It was nice to get away. The following week my Mom and James and Kim went home and it was time to get back to normal. Normal???
So what's next?? Well I have been trying to not do too much and just relax for the last month. We had planned to go camping but it never worked out, we had to have a repair done on the truck, I watched Abby for a few days while Mark and Hope were out of town and now the weather has decided to get cold. So we have decided that camping will have to wait until next year. I have a lot of scrapbooking stuff that I want to work on and I have signed up for three craft fairs each weekend of November so I need to get busy and craft...

And we are planning a trip down to CA to visit Jenn for a few days. Of course it will probably still feel like summer down there. But we are planning a trip to Apple Hill and that will be fun and do some planning for Brody's upcoming birthday. It will be fun.

Talk to you soon (really, I will try to be better),

It's all about the wedding.....

At least that is what it feels like, as we are entering the countdown to the big day.
Just thought I would give an update.
We finally got the invitations all out, the ones on time, the late ones and the "just a couple more's". A lot of things are done or mostly done. The flower girl (Abby) dress and basket and petals are done, the ring pillow is done and we have the ring bearer (Brody) suit and tie. At least they will be ready. The centerpieces are done but we may need to add a couple more. The candy bars are covered, the water bottles are half done. The table coverings and tableware are ready. The bubbles are ready, and we have the stuff to decorate the arch.
And the dresses, that's the big question you want to know, are all in different stages, with some to be finished up this week. And by next week the only dress left to do should be Jenn's, since she is not here. I can hardly wait...I want to be done... and just enjoy the anticipation of the day. Oh, yeah, I think that doesn't happen, there is always something to do until its over. I am remembering stuff already, need to go over the list again and again. But by the end of the week the little stuff should be done.
Just hoping everything goes smoothly for the big day.

Busy, busy...

Hi again,
I can't believe it is the middle of July already. So much to do. I have been busy working on the wedding stuff. The invitations are taking forever, and I had to redo one part because there was an error in the script. That was frustrating, and more so since they should have already been in the mail. But it is fixed and we are just about at the end of them, waiting on Heather to finish getting a few addresses. The rsvp cards, and maps are done and in the invitations. The programs are ready to assemble as are the candy bar covers and the water bottle covers. It is slowly coming together.
Last Saturday we had the wedding shower, Jenn came up, since she was in charge of it, it went pretty well. We went to the wedding location and reviewed the process and details for the big day.
Oh, and have I mentioned the dresses?? No, I am avoiding that subject (at least for now). I have to get busy, lock my self in the sewing room. I actually have started but have had to work on the invitations or nobody will show up. Soon, I will have actual progress.
It was nice to have Jenn and Brett and Brody visit. Brody is getting so big, he is actually a little bit taller and thinner than Abby. He just looks like a little version of a big boy. It is just amazing at how fast time goes and how fast they grow. I look forward to when they can move back up here and I can see him more often. It was fun to hear all the new words he is saying. Abby too, she is saying full sentences now, and sometimes you can even figure some of it out.
I better go get busy on something for the wedding. Talk to you later.

Back from vacation...

Hi again, We have been back from vacation for a week and a half now, so yes I am a little slow at updating you. First of all, our trip should have been longer, or maybe it was just that we didn't take the time to camp out and I really feel like camping. But there is still time for camping.
Our trip from Michigan to home was fun. We got to visit three of the Laura Ingall's Wilder historical sites, first her birthplace in Pepin, WI, then Walnut Grove, MN, and then the last homestead in DeSmet, SD. It was really interesting, and I got souveniers and a couple of books so I could learn more of the history. We drove through the Badlands and Mt Rushmore in South Dakota, that was really neat. Then through Wyoming again so we decided to drive through Yellowstone. That was really nice, but too quick, so we will be planning another trip there sometime and spend a whole day. We saw bison and elk but no bear or moose, so we have to go back. And we didn't take the route that has Old Faithful, so of course we have to go back to see that. It was all pretty awesome though. Going through Montana we went to a ghost town, that was really interesting. And of course we saw a lot of places that we should have camped at.
Now that we are home it will be busy, busy, working on getting the yard in shape (now that we are home to water it) and I will be busy with wedding stuff.
Talk to you soon.

On Vacation

And now that I have posted some of the pictures that I promised of the cards and projects that I stamped I will tell you about my vacation.
I am still gone but am presently at my friends house in Michigan, so I have access to the computer. We have had a great time so far. The scenery has been awesome. We drove through Idaho, and Wyoming then into the corner of Colorado where we met my brother, James. He was going to Wisconsin, so we met up and traveled together for a while, through Nebraska, and we dipped down to Kansas just so we could say we went there. Then through Iowa and Illinois and then he went north to Chicago and we went further east through Indiana before going north to Michigan. And we went through the corner of Ohio. I have been able to get quite a few souveniers except for Illinois and Ohio. About the only places that had souveniers were the truck stops and we traveled a lot on the back highways rather than the freeways so we would see more scenery, and there weren't as many truck stops.
One of our stops was Minden, Nebraska at the Harold Warp Pioneer Museum and it was awesome. I would recommend it to anyone who loves antiques or american history. We spent 6 hours there and couldn't see everything and that was going through quickly, you could spend two days there and still not see everything. It was truly amazing seeing the progression of history and trying to imagine what it was like before our modern technology.
We crossed the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers, that was not unlike crossing any other river except for the concept of where we were.
When we got to northern Indiana we stopped at Amish Acres. We didn't take time to go on the tour, we just visited the gift shops, but we did see a lot of Amish people riding bicycles and a few with their horse and buggy going to the grocery store (they had there own parking area for the horses).
We made it to Michigan of friday. We tried not to drive after it got dark so we could enjoy the scenery. I would say it took us so long because we kept slowing down to take pictures, I have taken a ton. I'm going to be busy scrapbooking our trip!
On saturday we went down to a lake that is just about thirty minutes away from my friends house and we camped for the night, and went fishing. It was fun.
And that brings you up to today which is Sunday.
Talk to you soon,
Carrie

Just keeping busy

Hello, again, I don't have much to update even though I have been busy.
I had the stamping/scrapbooking open house and it was fun but not real successful on a holiday weekend. I had fun scrapbooking all day though with my friend Nancy who hung out with me for the whole day. And now I have samples that I can upload on this blog so you can see them. (I'll get to that soon.)
We got the trailer back (yeah!), so now we just need to load up some clothes and food and we are ready to go. On the road again......
I would like to say that I have been sewing... but I have not. I did however finish buying the fabric, zippers, thread, etc. and looked over the patterns so I am ready to go. And working on the invitations, programs, etc., just waiting on the final wording to print them up. Heather and I went out to the place where her wedding will be held and scoped out how the setup will be, so that is done and we can move forward with reserving stuff like tables, chairs, etc. and finalizing decorations. It really is exciting even though it is a lot of work.
Tom went fishing to Montana with his friend Tom. He said that it was a successful trip, they caught lots of fish and actually could have a fish fry.
Well that's about it for now, I will try to get those pics uploaded and let you know how the trip is going.

Keeping Busy

It is a busy time. Next saturday is the open house for stamping and scrapbooking and I am busy getting things ready for all of you to see. I got quite a few new items from the catalog and they are so cool, I think people will really like them. There are some fun things to see and make.
We should be getting our trailer back any day now, all fixed up and ready for our next trip. We are planning on finishing our original trip by taking another two weeks and go to Michigan next month. I am looking forward to going because it will be places I have never been.
It is also gearing up to be a really busy time working on the wedding preparations for Heather's wedding. I will be starting to sew, sew, sew, as I work on her dress and the bridesmaids dresses. ( I hope everything goes together easily, by the time I get done I should be a pro!) Then of course we are making her invitations, programs, and other cards... that should be easy enough. We have them designed, now I am just waiting for the wording so they can be printed up and put together. Making final decisions on decorations, food, etc is also in the process. And being sure that we haven't missed anything else that needs to be thought of as we go over all the lists. Jenn is handling the bridal shower long distance, so I have helped her a little bit. She will be here in July to do the shower so I am off the hook there.
I'll keep you posted.

We're back!

Hi,
For my first post , I wanted to let you know that we are back from our trip - early!
We traveled to Phoenix, Az so Tom and Brett could go to the NASCAR race, a first for both of them. Tom and I took our travel trailer and stayed in the RV area at the race track. Jenn and Brett drove down arriving on Friday and stayed at a hotel. Tom and Brett decided to go to the nationwide series race on friday evening. The concensus was that it will never be the same watching it on TV again. (and this wasn't even the Sprint Cup!!) Tom said there is just nothing like the smell of burning rubber and brakes and gasoline (it's definately a guy thing). The Sprint Cup of course was even better except for the crowds, they were massive. After the races we went to Tucson, to visit family and stayed 4 days. It was hot!!! Then we traveled to Colorado to visit more family and stayed 2 days. Our plan was to go east and north from there to Michigan to visit a friend. However the weather was not very cooperative, and rather than take a chance of getting caught in winds, tornado's or flooding we just decided to return home. Our trip was uneventful up to this point, but on the way home we had a tire blowout. It did a bit of damage to the trailer so it is now in the repair shop. I am glad it happened on the way home, it made a mess.
We are planning to finish our trip in about a month, going to Michigan and seeing sites on the way (or way back). Actually this way we will have a longer vacation than if we had done it all at once.
Hi everyone,
Thanks for visiting my new blog. It is a place where I hope to share my life and my creations with my friends. It will probably take me a while to figure out how to do this, so bear with me. If all goes well I hope to share scrapbooking and stamping ideas for inspiration and ideas. And if I really learn to manage this blog, maybe even some how-to's.
However for those of you less creative people I will also be writing about the interesting ventures in my life. I will share the trips and vacations as well as the grandchildren and whatever else I can find to bore you with.
So I hope you will take the time to read my blog and send me a comment or two.
Thanks again for visiting Carrie's Corner
